ROD REDUCER
Improved instrument design and prototype
The customer required development of a novel rod reducer. While typical rod reducers utilize a pistol-grip ratcheting mechanism, this device promised improved handling and visibility while delivering the required forces to properly seat the rod and facilitate final installation of the locking cap.
Engineering Design & Product Improvement
- CAD design concepts were developed and downselected
- A functional prototype was produced for evaluation based on the final design
Result:
The prototype was expedited to support a key cadaver lab. Positive feedback led the customer to pursue this design to compliment their new product line.
